ELECTRICAL SAFETY TESTS - LVD
Tests of electrical equipment is made in accordance with Low Voltage Directive (LVD), that ensures that electrical equipment within certain voltage limits provides a high level of protection for European citizens, and benefits fully from the Single Market. We perform tests primarily according to the standards of the general requirements for luminaires EN 60598 and EN 60079 for luminaires designed for environment with explosive atmospheres. Verification of the degree of protection provided by enclosures (IP code) is performed according to standard EN 60529.
BASIC TYPES OF TESTS:
Thermal tests
The principle of thermal tests is to seek maximum steady surface temperatures of the components and parts of the device at various operating conditions. Using thermocouples is determined, whether there is no excessive overheat of the monitored parts. Overheating may affect the life and especially safety of the product.
Electrical tests
Electrical safety test verify, that that electrical equipment provides a high level of protection during its operation or installation. There are performed tests of insulation resistance and lectric strength, earth continuity test of conductive parts and touch and leakage current measurements.
Tests of protection provided by enclosures (IP code)
It is determined the degree of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment according to the requirements of standard EN 60529. The relevant degree of protection is stated by IP code in format IPXX.The code consists of two numbers: The first number describes the protection against access to hazardous parts, solid objects and dust and is stated in the range of IP0X-IP6X. The second number indicates the degree of protection against ingress of water and is stated in the range of IPX0 - IPX9.
Tests of resistance to heat, fire and tracking
are used to verify the resistance of the parts of Insulating material and components providing the protection against electric shock. The test consists of ball-pressure test, glow-wire test, needle flame test and the tracking test.
